Matthew Stafford is the Perfect Fit for the Patriots

After a disappointing 2020 campaign, it’s time to look towards the off-season for Patriot fans.

Quarterback is the biggest question mark for the Patriots going into 2021 and Matthew Stafford should be the answer.

The man has accomplished so much on a Detroit team that never seemed to care about giving him weapons.

He ranks 17th all time in career TD passes ahead of Joe Montana, he has the most passing yards through 160 starts in the NFL (43,901), and the 8th most touchdown passes through 160 starts (274).

Stafford has been able to make something out of nothing in Detroit, but recently the team decided that they would part ways and accommodate his request for a trade after 12 seasons.

The Patriots would get a stellar passer with great leadership skills right off the bat and Stafford would finally get some stability with a coach and a team that is actually invested in him.

At this point, you might be asking, “Why not go for Deshaun Watson? He’s younger and arguably better?”

The biggest benefit to getting Stafford is cost. With Watson, you are looking at a trade value that sits around 3 first-round picks. With Stafford, you could potentially get him for a 2nd-round pick and a player.

If the Patriots traded for Watson, they would effectively be shorting themselves for the future. Sure, we get a generational QB, but what about a true number 1 wide receiver? Or a middle linebacker to lead the defense? What about the gap Joe Thuney will leave if we can’t re-sign him?

As a fan, you have to look at this team and say the Patriots are more than a QB away from winning a Super Bowl. Buying into Watson, hurts the team. With Stafford, we would have the ability to draft a young QB for him to groom and compete with in a later round. Names like Kellen Mond or Sam Ehlinger stand out as perfect succesor to Stafford after a few years with the team.

Matthew Stafford, come to New England. It’s slightly warmer than Michigan and the fans are much louder. We want you.

A Humble Farewell

Whether his last game or not, it doesn’t change the fact that Drew Brees didn’t have the best game of his career. But that’s okay, because in the eyes of many, Brees will go down in history as one of the greats to play the game of football.

Drew Brees holding the Lombardi trophy after winning Super Bowl XLIV

With an insane stat line, Drew Brees will easily be remembered as New Orleans’ best quarterback of all time, but his stats aren’t the only thing that makes this man incredible. From immensely helping out charities and the State of Louisiana throughout his time in New Orleans, to being apart of the teams that helped New Orleans overcome tragedy on MULTIPLE occasions, this man has done it all. And none of that would’ve been possible without an injury in 2005 which changed Brees life forever.

In 2005, Brees was the quarterback for the San Diego Chargers. A fumble in week 17 had caused Brees to be injured during a year where his contract expired. The Saints took the gamble on free agent Brees, and the gamble paid off. Brees quickly became the star of the Saints. Bringing in superior talent, Brees was able to overcome obstacles throughout his career like any other. From ridiculous injuries to bringing his team championships, Brees was and will forever be a star of the Saints.

What this man did in New Orleans is just phenomenal. From donating over $25,000,000 to his community through his charity “ The Brees Dream Foundation”, to holding records never thought possible, Brees is just outstanding at many, many tasks. To name a few accolades, Brees currently holds the NFL’s all-time passing leader at 80,492 yards. Second most passing touchdowns ever at 572. A 13 time pro bowler. Super Bowl XLIV Champion and MVP. 7 time leader in NFL passing yards. And so much more.

Whether Drew Brees has played his last snap as an NFL quarterback, he will be remembered as a legend by many fans who have witnessed the greatness he attributed. Thank you for everything and what a hell of a career.

HOW THE HELL DID JAMES HARDEN LEAN OUT OVERNIGHT???

I’m sorry, how the hell does James Harden go from looking like he’s hiding a pillow under his shirt, to looking like a real athlete???

Seriously, what’s the deal with airplane food? You flew from Houston to Brooklyn and dropped 50 pounds?

You detoxed from strip clubs for a couple of days and you return to form??

Fuck this Harden. Give me fat Harden back.

**Cough cough My fat James Harden Blog cough cough**

Look at him! He is the definition of excellence! Imagine how many Buffalo wings he could eat. Spoiler, it’s a whole Buffalo (instructions unclear. Ate a Buffalo).

He could’ve been caught in Houston being lovable and far, instead he’s in Brooklyn on the new hated super team and he’s lean again.

Skinny Harden sucks.

Urban Meyer Becoming the New Coach Of The Jags is Awful

Urban Meyer was just hired as the Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The same Jaguars that went 1-15

The same Jaguars that are primed for Trevor Lawrence to arrive as pick number one in this years draft.

The same Jaguars that hate their fans and want to continue to give them a glimmer of hope for what should be a bright future.

Let me say this, I love Urban as a college football coach. He is right up there with Bear and Saban as one of the best college coaches of all time.

Did you see what I was trying to emphasize?

Meyer is a legend at recruiting and convincing 18 year olds that winning a National title is the best thing for them.

What happens when the Jags start losing? Does he fake another health crisis?

At Florida he “retired” when everyone started doing drugs. At Ohio state he “retired” when the team got bad.

Jags fans, I want the best for you. I’m. A Browns fan, we are finally good and I want other struggling teams to get there. It’s a brotherly bond.

Urban is not the answer. He will give you one decent season and then when the going gets tough, he will be gone. You deserve better

Juju Just Danced On His Own Grave

Throughout the 2020 NFL Season, it’s safe to say Juju Smith-Schuster has turned heads a number of times. From becoming a Tik Tok sensation to dancing on Teams’ logos and getting absolutely leveled for it, Smith-Schuster has seen his actions come back to haunt him (and team) more than once. With his latest choice of words, we can’t help but wonder if Smith-Schuster may have just dug his own grave, and then danced on it.

Speaking with the Associated Press before Sunday’s postseason matchup, Juju stated “I think they’re still the same Browns teams I play every year,… I think they’re nameless gray faces. They have a couple good players on their team, but at the end of the day, I don’t know. The Browns is the Browns.” Bold choice of words from a player who hasn’t done much other than get completely embarrassed multiple times on the field.

Smith-Schuster and the Pittsburgh Steelers made their way to 11-0 before dropping three losses in a row and finishing the season 12-4. Their latest loss was handed to them by the Cleveland Browns who made their final push for the playoffs. Granted the Browns beat a Steelers team who was resting their starters, but still the Browns have clearly made a decent case for themselves to not be taking lightly.

Juju Smith-Schuster getting DECKED by Bengals’ Vonn Bell

Smith-Schuster shouldn’t be much of a factor this Sunday either, after not having a single game with over 100 receiving yards and tallying only 9 touchdowns on the season. With this being said, I think it goes for all of us here at BOTA that we hope this adds fuel to the fire and provides some very strong motivation for the Browns. Here’s to hoping Juju can eat his words once more this season and the Steelers get their ass handed to them by the Browns. Let’s see what these “gray faces” Browns can do to a Steelers team that is nowhere close to as talented as originally thought.

Kyrie Irving Decided Not to Play Tonight Because “He Didn’t Want To”

We all need mental health days right?? A nice day to sit back and mentally reset from all the bullshit that the world throws at us.

Kyrie Irving decided that he didn’t want to play tonight and the Internet hated it…

I’m a salty Celtics fan, so I’ll give you a chance to get off the ride here.

Still here? Really? Okay, can’t wait for your angry comments. Just know I’ll be envisioning your stupid grey blob court the entire time.

All of these people are right to be mad. Bro, there are tired teachers that would die for a quarter of what you make. They can’t take days off.

If this was truly a mental health day, then it should’ve been phrased as such. Even better, you should’ve just not answered the questions. Prioritize your mental health kids…

Kyrie added 5 gallons of fuel onto the bonfire/media target that is the Nets locker room and I love it. I’m going to sit back, grab some popcorn, and watch as the Barclays arena goes down in flames.

Justin Fields Is Back to QB2 in the NFL Draft

Justin Fields draft stock has been on a roller coaster in 2020.

He started off as the clear cut QB2 behind Trevor Lawrence. Then after some average performances against Indiana (3 interceptions) and Northwestern (114 yards 3 interceptions), everyone in the country turned their eyes to the Mormons and Zach Wilson.

Ohio state was the hot topic. “Is Justin Fields good under pressure” “Is Justin Fields only good because of the talent around him” “Ohio State is a bad team, with an easy schedule that got into the playoff because of their name”

The critics wanted a test for the young QB and the playoff gave it to them. If Fields wanted to be back in the conversation of “next QB to ruin his life on the Jets” he had to show up against Clemson.

He did more than just show up last night…

Clemson has produced insane defensive players over the past few years and their defense this year kept that trend. Fields made them look like a pop Warner squad.

I get the argument that one game doesn’t matter. It kinda does…

If I’m an NFL GM, I want a kid who can step up in big time situations. When the lights are on you need someone who won’t crumble. Fields has shown over the past two years that he is a star in these situations.

Could he use some help in regular situations? Sure! He’s not always going to have Ohio State level talent around him, but give him time in the NFL and he will be one of the next great QBs.

Notre Dame is Officially Cursed

WHY IS EVERY BLOG I WRITE TODAY PRO A&M

I get it, Notre Dame was one of the best teams this year and had the wins to back that; but they’ve never had a solid playoff performance.

Some could say it’s the curse of the #4 spot and I can look at that and kind of agree, but that’s not fun so fuck you.

Ian Booke: 229 1int. I gave you credit. I said you should have your name in consideration for Heisman. BUST. SHOULD’VE KEPT JURKOVEC.

This defense was supposed to be an all powerful unit, but we’ve seen them torched by Clemson and Bama. Two true playoff contenders. The only undisputed playoff favorites.

I mean shit, I would’ve watched Oklahoma get torched again over Notre Dame. Hell, put in whatever’s left of Kyle Trask. That would’ve been more interesting.

Notre Dame is cursed, they’ll be back in talk next year, they shouldn’t be, and I’ll be writing this again in 2022.

Sam Howell Has Never Had Steak and Texas Will Have Their Revenge

Three most American things in reverse order, Steak, Football, and Hummers. I’m not sure if Sam Howell has ever driven a Hummer or even if he’s seen one, but I know one thing for sure. He’s never tasted steak or had a burger.

In the frenzy of media interviews before the Orange Bowl, Sam was asked to say a random fact about himself. He chose to reveal that he only eats chicken and has never tasted steak.

Dude, you’re about to face the best team in Texas in Texas A&M (yes that felt weird to say) and you’re going to reveal that you’ve never graced your tastebuds with the most glorious gift from the food gods, beef? They’re going to eat you medium rare with a baked potato.

Hey Howell, is your Chicken Nuggies enough to be a champion? No. Side note. Any adult who says “Chicken Nuggies or Chicken Tendies” is a fucking toddler who shouldn’t be allowed to join society until they learn how to speak like an adult. Go back to your crib and watch Frozen.

Don’t take my triggered chicken take wrong, I’ll indulge in some CHICKEN NUGGETS (certified adult), but you can’t give A&M an inch in this game you just gave them a whole mile.

Gig ‘Em

Hot Take:Trevor Lawrence is About to Pull a Tim Tebow

You know when you get that weird feeling in your gut, you don’t quite know if it’s indigestion from 3am Taco Bell or if it’s a spicy take.

On this rare occasion, it’s the latter for me.

I think Trevor Lawrence is about to return to Clemson the same way Tim Tebow returned to Florida in 2009.

Let’s start by saying that Trevor is 100 times the prospect that Tebow ever was, but the competitive nature aligns and I’ll be the first to say, take the guaranteed money.

Let’s rewind to 2009. Florida has just won the natty and the celebration was commencing. Tebow steps on stage and everyone thinks he’s about to announce that he’s declaring for the draft.

Tim said “ Swerve” (probably) and said he’s returning for his senior season.

His senior season resulted in a 8-5 record and was extremely underwhelming and resulted in a 13-1 record and a sugar bowl win.

Okay, so what does this have to do with T-Law?

Trevor has had an amazing college career that has resulted in him being the consensus number one overall pick…. what else? One national championship sure, no one can take that away, but no Heisman… it could’ve been his this year, but Covid took that away.

“Not just about the money”

If you look at the next two drafts, Trevor is a certified number one pick. If he goes into the draft this year or the next year, he will still be a number one pick. A serious injury is the only thing that risks his draft potential.

Here’s the caveat, if Trevor wins the Natty again this year, he’s done. Jags/Jets, enjoy your franchise QB.

If he doesn’t win, expect him to make a heroic return to Clemson and win all of the trophies. The ones that he will never have a chance to get again.

Quick recap, win and he’s in the NFL. Lose and Trevor dominates the ACC for another year.
