Will Levis is a Certified STUD

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Will Levis

As a quarterback, you know that you have a small window to grasp an opportunity.

As a college student, you know that a blue check mark gets you whatever you want.

Will Levis, a Penn State QB, is using his blue check mark to shoot his shot and slide into Kin Kardashian’s newly opened DMs.

Sorry Kanye… but you gotta respect the hustle.

Sure, it doesn’t mean anything because she won’t respond. Probably.

Those odds aren’t great, but if you put $10 on a 1 and a million chance you make…uhh… a lot of money (I don’t want to do simple math I’m gonna be honest…)

If Kim responds, Will will (weird) live in eternal college glory.

His scouting report will read,

Will Levis. Certified stud.

Fuck the Jets

Didn’t get it done. Sam took a bad sack after a false start penalty and with adam gase as your coach why wouldn’t you run 2 plays under 4 yards and then punt. Fuckin nasty 🤮🤮 will be looking for a play in either the late afternoon slate or the night game. Stay tuned. Has the fade already started?? Let me know!

Creds Best Bet of the Day. (Sunday)

New segment here as I like to occasionally throw a couple bucks down on a sports game when I see value that really sticks out to me. Let me just get out in front of the noise early as this is not a heart bet or a homer bet. Over the last few weeks this bet has hit and it is a type of bet that his hit at a great clip across the league this season. Tomorrow afternoon I am on the New York Jets OVER .5 points in the first quarter. Yes I know its the Jets. Yes I Know they are the worst sports organization in the history of sports. Yes I know they just did the most Jets like thing possible by ruining their shot at Trevor. Yes I know they are a train wreck inside a dumpster fire. That being said the Pats aren’t much better this year… The over .5 1st quarter bets across the whole league have been hitting at a very high clip this year and I think the jets have value here in this spot tomorrow against a shaky New England defense.

THIS IS NOT A PLAY I AM HAMMERING OR BETTING THE FARM ON. I don’t do that. In fact every bet I make is usually the same dollar amount. But as of Saturday night this is my favorite bet on the board so far. I will be doing more research and looking for some more value throughout the night and tomorrow morning so stay tuned to the Bota page for any updates! Play it or Fade it. Either way I’m going to get absolutely roasted by my co-workers and you the readers but frankly my dear, I dont give a Damn!

Adopt the 1-16 Playoff Format Across the Board

At just under 26 years old, this is still a concept that absolutely baffles me. Year in and year out a team gets snubbed in just about every league that deserves to get into the playoffs. This year, the Cleveland Browns could potentially miss the playoffs with a far superior record then any of the teams that will emerge from the NFC East. Now I get it. One of teams will win their division but I mean come on. No one wants to see any team from the NFC East in the playoffs, not even the fans of these teams. At the end of the day it just kills the competition level and excitement of the playoffs. Whichever team comes out of that division will not make a run in the playoffs. They won’t even make it past the first round. The Cleveland Browns, contrary to popular belief, are in fact a good team and they are a team that could actually make some waves in the playoffs this year. Yet we will be subjected to watching the Giants Cowboys or Washington football team play in week 18. It’s just so ass backwards.

There needs to be more parody across all sports and the best teams need to be rewarded. Eliminate the divisions and go to East and West. Just tone it down and keep it simple. The NFL and NHL need to get on this because I’m sick of seeing teams that have no business being in the playoffs play in them and I’m sick of seeing marquee matchups in the NHL fall to the wayside due to the bullshit division breakdowns.

Fix it please.

Justin Fields Is Back to QB2 in the NFL Draft

Justin Fields draft stock has been on a roller coaster in 2020.

He started off as the clear cut QB2 behind Trevor Lawrence. Then after some average performances against Indiana (3 interceptions) and Northwestern (114 yards 3 interceptions), everyone in the country turned their eyes to the Mormons and Zach Wilson.

Ohio state was the hot topic. “Is Justin Fields good under pressure” “Is Justin Fields only good because of the talent around him” “Ohio State is a bad team, with an easy schedule that got into the playoff because of their name”

The critics wanted a test for the young QB and the playoff gave it to them. If Fields wanted to be back in the conversation of “next QB to ruin his life on the Jets” he had to show up against Clemson.

He did more than just show up last night…

Clemson has produced insane defensive players over the past few years and their defense this year kept that trend. Fields made them look like a pop Warner squad.

I get the argument that one game doesn’t matter. It kinda does…

If I’m an NFL GM, I want a kid who can step up in big time situations. When the lights are on you need someone who won’t crumble. Fields has shown over the past two years that he is a star in these situations.

Could he use some help in regular situations? Sure! He’s not always going to have Ohio State level talent around him, but give him time in the NFL and he will be one of the next great QBs.

Mark These The Fuck Down…

With 2021 finally here and the sports world doing everything they can to get back to some sort of new normal; let’s take a look at some big events that will be can’t miss TV in the sporting world.

As we all know, unless you live under a complete cement foundation or some sort of “Covid Bunker” (Patent Pending) the NBA is back in full swing. Each team (baring any hiccups) will play 72 games and the playoffs are currently set to begin on May 22. They have worked in a play in Tournament for teams in the hunt currently set to run from May 17th to May 21. The All-Star break is set for March 5th to March 10th (although it’s a complete clown show every year but then again the whole league is complete shit show with over payed divas). Trade deadline is March 25th.

The MLB (the worst sport to watch on TV) is set to begin with opening day on April 1st. I’m literally falling asleep while writing about this sport. That’s how boring it is. Apparently they draft players as well which goes down on July 11th-13th? News to me…and apparently you can buy the first draft pick or it’s bid out or some shit? What the fuck?? The All-Star break will take place July 13th which is the only bright spot of this boring sport. If the Home Run Derby wasn’t a thing I would be completely detached from the game I once loved to play long ago. The Yankees have a game in the middle of bumblefuck Iowa this year to….seems like a pretty far trip from the Bronx for 9 innings of strikeouts, but I digress. Playoffs are set for October 5th, so tune in if you want to but I wouldn’t recommend it…

The NFL regular season is coming to a close and while the Jets won’t be in it, at least they have the first overall pick….oh…right… Adam Gase will be fired on Monday. Wild Card Games start next Saturday and will finish up on Sunday. Divisional round starting on January 16th, Conference Finals January 24th and the Superbowl will be on February 7th; with the Weeknd lip-synching at the halftime show. I’m pullin for either a Mahomie repeat or a Rodgers Ring but as far as this Sunday I am a full fledged Steelers fan! Black and Yellow babyyyyy!!!!

The NHL! My bread and butter!! For the teams that didn’t make it to the NHL bubble last year, training camp opened yesterday. (Yes my hockey team is part of that group, and yes I know all of my teams suck at their respective sports….) The rest of the teams training camps are set to start on January 3rd. Come January 13th we are at full steam ahead and have at least one game every night for the next 150 someodd days. LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!! Each team is currently scheduled for 56 games and they will all be divisional play with the realignment of the divisions do to travel restrictions. Every game now matters that much more in a shortened season while every game will be played against a team that you will need to beat out for a playoff spot. The NHL today has announced that the Flyers and Bruins as well as the Golden Knights and Avalanche will play each other, *hold please* Lake-Fucking-Tahoe in Nevada on February 20th and 21st. Both of these games will be broadcast on NBC and will be must watch TV. The trade deadline is April 12th, with the last regular season game being played on May 8th. Playoffs start right after that on May 11th and the last possible date for the Stanley Cup Finals is July 9th. Expansion Draft for The Seattle Kraken will take place on July 21st and the hope is to start the 2021-2022 season at the normal start time in October. Also, due to the restructured divisions, we will get to experience the heated and hated “Battle of Alberta” 10 times. If you don’t know what this is or how truly great this current situation is, look it up right now……no like right the fuck now. Keep an eye out on Tapingtheshaft on IG and all podcast streaming apps for more info as the season gets underway!

In the UFC world we have one key event set in stone at the moment which is the McGregor vs Poirier rematch. Set to take place on January 23 on fight island. This is something that UFC fans have waited for for a minute now and ot is now fast approaching. McGregor has now come out of retirement like 4 times and his last fight opponent, while an all time legend in Cowboy Cerrone, it was someone that McGregor was always going to handle soundly. Now he’s set to square off in the cage against a very worthy opponent and if you don’t watch it, well then we are not friends anymore. Rumors and rumblings have also started to kick tires that the infamous Khabib wants the winner of this match. Khabib is coming off a sound win in November over Justin Gaethje while maintaining his perfect record and immediately retiring after the match. I think Khabib has a lot left to offer the sport and I think his retirement was premature but I’m no expert. It could just be possible that he already spent the cool 10 mil he made of his last fight on mink coats. However I will do a further write up as more news develops around that story. But for now, ESPN+ January 23, 8pm. Just order it. It will honestly change your life.

So that’s what we are looking at right now in the sports world. Pretty exciting time with some hugeeee events to kick off 2021. Excited to break it all down as it unfolds for you guys and let me know what I missed!

Cred out!

Notre Dame is Officially Cursed

I get it, Notre Dame was one of the best teams this year and had the wins to back that; but they’ve never had a solid playoff performance.

Some could say it’s the curse of the #4 spot and I can look at that and kind of agree, but that’s not fun so fuck you.

Ian Booke: 229 1int. I gave you credit. I said you should have your name in consideration for Heisman. BUST. SHOULD’VE KEPT JURKOVEC.

This defense was supposed to be an all powerful unit, but we’ve seen them torched by Clemson and Bama. Two true playoff contenders. The only undisputed playoff favorites.

I mean shit, I would’ve watched Oklahoma get torched again over Notre Dame. Hell, put in whatever’s left of Kyle Trask. That would’ve been more interesting.

Notre Dame is cursed, they’ll be back in talk next year, they shouldn’t be, and I’ll be writing this again in 2022.

Sam Howell Has Never Had Steak and Texas Will Have Their Revenge

Three most American things in reverse order, Steak, Football, and Hummers. I’m not sure if Sam Howell has ever driven a Hummer or even if he’s seen one, but I know one thing for sure. He’s never tasted steak or had a burger.

In the frenzy of media interviews before the Orange Bowl, Sam was asked to say a random fact about himself. He chose to reveal that he only eats chicken and has never tasted steak.

Dude, you’re about to face the best team in Texas in Texas A&M (yes that felt weird to say) and you’re going to reveal that you’ve never graced your tastebuds with the most glorious gift from the food gods, beef? They’re going to eat you medium rare with a baked potato.

Hey Howell, is your Chicken Nuggies enough to be a champion? No. Side note. Any adult who says “Chicken Nuggies or Chicken Tendies” is a fucking toddler who shouldn’t be allowed to join society until they learn how to speak like an adult. Go back to your crib and watch Frozen.

Don’t take my triggered chicken take wrong, I’ll indulge in some CHICKEN NUGGETS (certified adult), but you can’t give A&M an inch in this game you just gave them a whole mile.

Gig ‘Em

To start off this post I would like to first take a couple lines to thank everyone from Bota for letting me be a part of an amazing team. Growing up it was always my dream to get involved in the sports world (the ultimate goal being to play in the NHL) but when that was ripped from my clutches when I stopped growing in the 6th grade I turned my focus to the covering the teams I’m passionate about. I never had the outlet or platform to promote my blogs and James, Zach, and Chris gave me the opportunity to do so and I am forever grateful for that opportunity.

I would also love to thank each and every one of you who reads the blogs, and interacts with us on social media. You all allow us to do what we love and make it such an incredible experience every day. I greatly enjoy roasting each and every one of you who attacks my teams daily.

At the beginning of December I started a new job out in Pennsylvania and have been working on getting adjusted to the new commute and building a new routine. On top of that I just finished moving late last night so its been a hectic end of the year for me. My main goal (no it’s not a resolution…goals motivate me way more) is dive head first into creating a lot content for you all and continue to help growing the Bota faithful. I am super excited and have some cool ideas floating around in my washed up brain that I cant wait to run with. With that being said, I would love to hear what you guys would love to see, read, interact with. My main focuses up until this point have been the NHL, UFC and the shitty Jets…just about the most underwhelming line up there is haha but would love to get start up a new project that you guys would truly be interested in. Let me know what, if anything, you guys have in mind. Here’s to 2021 and making it an absolute banger. Love you all!

Hot Take:Trevor Lawrence is About to Pull a Tim Tebow

You know when you get that weird feeling in your gut, you don’t quite know if it’s indigestion from 3am Taco Bell or if it’s a spicy take.

On this rare occasion, it’s the latter for me.

I think Trevor Lawrence is about to return to Clemson the same way Tim Tebow returned to Florida in 2009.

Let’s start by saying that Trevor is 100 times the prospect that Tebow ever was, but the competitive nature aligns and I’ll be the first to say, take the guaranteed money.

Let’s rewind to 2009. Florida has just won the natty and the celebration was commencing. Tebow steps on stage and everyone thinks he’s about to announce that he’s declaring for the draft.

Tim said “ Swerve” (probably) and said he’s returning for his senior season.

His senior season resulted in a 8-5 record and was extremely underwhelming and resulted in a 13-1 record and a sugar bowl win.

Okay, so what does this have to do with T-Law?

Trevor has had an amazing college career that has resulted in him being the consensus number one overall pick…. what else? One national championship sure, no one can take that away, but no Heisman… it could’ve been his this year, but Covid took that away.

“Not just about the money”

If you look at the next two drafts, Trevor is a certified number one pick. If he goes into the draft this year or the next year, he will still be a number one pick. A serious injury is the only thing that risks his draft potential.

Here’s the caveat, if Trevor wins the Natty again this year, he’s done. Jags/Jets, enjoy your franchise QB.

If he doesn’t win, expect him to make a heroic return to Clemson and win all of the trophies. The ones that he will never have a chance to get again.

Quick recap, win and he’s in the NFL. Lose and Trevor dominates the ACC for another year.
