The Red Sox Season is long over (RIP). Let’s be honest, They were done in July, but that’s besides the point. I have found myself rooting for the local team in my area. If you haven’t figured it out by now, that team is the Rays.
Growing up, I remember the Rays being good for one year and being a joke in the AL East up until last year. They have become a major threat in the MLB just off of developing youth and making smart trades. This year, their season was marked by the potential for a Half and Half season. For the record, the bay hates this.
So, you may be asking yourself, “James, if you are a Sox fan, why on Earth would you root for a division Rival? Is it because you live there?” No. Shut up. That’s not why. The Rays are absolutely the good story of the post season. They are a small market team, that has a young, hungry team ready to make a push.
Full disclosure. My favorite team from the NL is the Dodgers. They are my last resort for fandom this year. They made it two years in a row and collapsed. So, fuck that.
The rest of the field are teams that I hate so I will break down why I wont root for them.
- I will forever hate the Yankees
- Alex Bregman is a dick
- The Sox beat STL in 2004
- I actually don’t hate the Braves or Nats to be honest
Rays. I need you to win. I need you to beat the Astros and the Yankees. I have talked myself into saying no one can beat you in a series. Please don’t disappoint me.
Love,
James
